SOUTHEASTERN BEAGLE FOXHOUND ASSOCIATION "RULES AND REGULATIONS"
New officers will be voted in at the championship hunt each year. They will consist of President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer.
The president will conduct the business of each trial. If the president is absent, the vice president will conduct the business.
Membership fees and all unused number fees must be paid before numbers can be drawn for future trial.
All beagles must be registered under AKC or CKC to earn points.
AKC or CKC papers must be shown the first time a hound is entered in a trial. (Exception - Grade Dogs)
Any "Beagle Hound" (unregistered or other registry) that meets our height standard (17" or under) will be allowed to compete in our hunts and earn award for the position they placed but will not earn points.
The officers will measure all new and/or questionable height hounds. A participating hound can't be measured after he/she is 16 months old.
8. Requirements for SOUTHEASTERN FIELD CHAMPIONSHIP:
* 2 wins plus points = 80 points
* 1 win + high point hound of year + points = 80 points.
* 1 win plus 2 more top 5 places in same season + points = 80 points.
* High point hound of the year + 3 top 5 places in same season + points = 80 points.
* 1 win + 3 top 5 places in another season + points = 80 points.
* A National win will count as an association win as of 1-1-07. (Rev. 1-27-07)
(EXCEPTIONS) All wins and top 5 places (with revision above) must be in the Southeastern. All points earned in ANY National Sanctioned Trial will count toward Southeastern Field Championship if the Southeastern does not have a sanctioned trial on that date.
9. Requirements for HIGH POINT HOUND OF YEAR AWARD.
- All points must be earned in SOUTHEASTERN ONLY sanctioned trials.
- Points earned in the NATIONAL TRIAL and/or any other duel sanctioned or non-sanctioned hunt will not count toward high point SOUTHEASTERN hound.
10, Dam and Stud dog of the year will receive recognition and award.
11. There will be a Golden Hound award for hounds that earn 125 points.
12. The Southeastern Breeder of the Year will be recognized and awarded.
13. An award will be presented for High Point Hound of Year, which includes the championship hunt. In the event of a tie, it will be broken by (1) the hound that placed in the most trials that year (2) if tied, the hound with highest number of wins that season (3) if still tied; it will be awarded to the hound that placed the highest in the championship hunt.
14. Pictures of the winning hounds will be taken at each hunt. Please wait for this to be completed.
15. Entry sheets should be filled out completely. Full name of hound and it's sire, dam and breeder is essential for proper record keeping.
16. A Calcutta will be performed at each hunt. If the owner does not object, 10 percent will go to the association.
17. The association will pay for one front cover magazine picture of two or more of the following: Field Champion, High point Hound of Year, and Golden Hound. Anyone wishing to place a single picture of one of the above may do so by paying half the cost.
18. Anyone may enter a grade hound or hounds from other associations the first time by complying with the association rules and paying 5 dollars plus entry fee. Any future participation will require the remaining membership fee.
19. Anyone may be a non-participating member and receive the newsletter by paying half-yearly membership.
20. Entry fee is $15 per hound.
21. Summer hunt points count same as other hunts.
22. Puppy’s 12 months or younger can participate in a puppy hunt if they meet all requirements even if they have placed in a trial.
23. Top ten puppy’s in the Spring & Fall Puppy Trial will qualify for our Championship trial. Puppy Trials will continue as non-points hunts. 24. There will be an annual non-points qualifying trial for all unqualified hounds. Top ten Females and Males will qualify for the Championship Trial. (All hounds participating in our Championship Trial must be qualified (placed) in the Southeastern Beagle Foxhound Association. This Excludes the National or other association trials.)
Rules Regarding Judging :
The following rules (25 thru 33) will be explained to the judging staff prior to each trial by the president and hunt host.
25. Cast will be at daylight unless otherwise specified.
26. All sanctioned hunts are a minimum of 4 hours. (Exception) Weather could be a factor. The Master of Hounds and the Officers (only) may make this decision.
27. Role call before each trial is mandatory.
28. When scoring speed/drive, if a hound is missed or not seen clearly, the following hounds will not be scored in that crossing. If a hound has a distorted or unclear number, the remaining hounds will be scored in the crossing. A hound or hounds will not be penalized for other hounds having defective numbers.
29. All scores in field will count toward total points when figuring points for HGA. Hunting and trailing should be added as bonus points. There is no time Limit.
30. True scoring will be used. All hounds will be scored as they cross. The judges during the final scoring process will separate odd and even numbers.
31. The master of hounds will appoint a home plate judge who will check cast area three or more times per trial.
32. A grace period of 15 minutes will be given at the start of each trial. Scoring will start immediately but Scratching will not be done during the grace period. This allows Judges to get in position and late arrivals to cast.
33. Once the original grace period of 15 minutes is up, a hound returning to cast will be scratched. The Judge should allow a few minutes for hound to continue on but should not walk the hound off or assist in any manner. Scratched hounds should be crated.
